What's New in BSF
A new year. A new study. And new ways to engage in God's Word.Several years ago (at the turn of the millennium), when I was a teaching leader in Kentucky, class members often asked me two common questions: “When will BSF release a study of Revelation?” and “When is BSF going to translate its material?” In both cases, my answer was emphatic: “No way! Do you know how hard (translating) or controversial (Revelation) that is?”
Now, here we are. Revelation is in our rear-view mirror, having blessed more than 475,000 men, women, boys and girls three years ago with the wonderful story of God’s consummation of His perfect plan of redemption. Meanwhile, translation has been woven into the fabric of Headquarters’ normal operating procedure. We produce more than 50,000 copies of each lesson in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Spanish. In addition, BSF now has 15 non-English-language classes and hundreds of non-English hybrid and satellite discussion groups around the world.
Look at what God has done!
And look at what He is doing!
As you begin your study of People of the Promised Land I, we are ecstatic about all the new things God has provided to allow current and new members to come and engage with the Lord through His Word in the community of our classes.
If you haven’t checked out your new member website, mybsf.org, go there now! (I’ll wait.)
Are you in? Isn’t it awesome?!
People love their paper lessons, and we have no plans to eliminate the material you pick up at class. But if you want to store your lesson material on your iPad or read the notes on your Kindle or listen – yes, listen! – to your notes on your smartphone on the drive to work or your morning run, it’s all there! In Spanish and Chinese, too! (I’ve overused my quota of exclamation points, because, yes, I am excited!!)
What else is new?
Here are just a few new things in BSF:
- A new blog home: You may have noticed this blog post has new surroundings. This is where you’ll find the latest BSF stories, and we’ll soon load those we’ve posted in the past. We hope you like the place.
- We’re more flexible and accessible. Repeat after me: “The four-fold approach has not changed. The four-fold approach has not changed.” BSF remains committed to the rhythm of 1. Personal study of Scripture. 2. Group discussion of the passage. 3. Expository teaching. 4. Rich study notes. There is no greater transformative power than the Word of God. However, BSF has allowed flexibility and some customization to meet the cultural context of our classes. These include discussion-group options, shorter class nights, lecture at the beginning of class in some classes, immediate onboarding of new members and access to lesson material and lectures to those on the waiting list, to name a few.
- Where did my Home Discussion Pages go? They’re now called the Daily Dive. You don’t have to be a BSF member to download them. Like the HDPs, they follow the same Scripture classes follow each week, with a couple questions for each section and principles. Plus, on the back we have added weekly an Attribute of God and a Basic Truth of the Christian Faith. This material can be downloaded and used for family study in the home, personal study or copied and used in groups, such as Sunday school classes or small-group study.
- Look at all the free stuff! While there is no fee to be part of a BSF class, we have accessible and new free content for non-members: Attributes of God; Basic Truths of the Christian Faith; Preschool Hymns; Basic Truth Songs and our library of Home Training Lessons.
- Online BSF: More than 600 group leaders have been or are in the process of being approved to lead online discussion groups. This means more than 9,000 people who are unable to attend a physical BSF class can participate online, where members have experienced deep, rich discussion with members from other parts of the world. But this new BSF component is still in process. Many are waiting to be contacted or placed while we get final pieces in place. Therefore, we need your fervent prayers that God would provide even more leaders and integration of our technology to handle the increasing demand, so even more people can be engaged in God’s Word through BSF.
- Online registration: We were shooting for the launch of an online registration process for incoming members to all classes, but technology glitches have caused a delay. Please pray as we iron out the details that will make the registration process even sleeker. We hope to have that ready later this fall.
- Giving is quick and easy: We are thankful for how God has provided for this ministry through the years. Our presses, personnel, technology, operations and initiatives come at a significant cost, and we are grateful for those who have given so generously. Meanwhile, the need for financial support continues to grow, especially as we develop dynamic resources and means to reach deeper into the world with God’s Word. Classes will always have a freewill offering plate. But for those who wish to give online, we have made donating easier. Check it out at https://www.bsfinternational.org/give.
- Questions?: While there’s more to come, let me close by turning us back to God’s Word. BSF questions are designed to help shepherd members through God’s perfect Word. No time is more valuable than your personal time with the Lord. Taken to heart, this leads to transformation of our lives, joyful witness and a burning desire to share truths God has revealed to us through the Bible. This leads to authentic, Spirit-led discussion in our groups, with our families and even among those who don’t yet know the Lord. God’s Word is meant to be shared. Deep heart connection with God comes through His Word plus authentic biblical community. Spending time in solitude with God in study and prayer is necessary. But Christian growth accelerates in community. So, spend time in the Word daily, come to class, engage in discussion and see what God does in your life and in the lives of others.
All this change and new things are not for BSF’s sake, but for the glory of God. Join us in prayer as we – Headquarters staff and members around the world – raise our arms in worship of the One who is worthy and then as we reach out and engage a world that desperately needs to know the glory of His holy name.
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
Save your people and bless your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever.”
— Psalm 28:8-9
Have a friend returning to Austria would like to continue study in German language…..Are notes and questions for the Revelation study next term (2024-2025). Written in German
Where do I find the BSF Kids Home Training Lessons? Specifically “Talking about Death”. Recommended in Lesson 26 of the John study.
Hi Sondra – if you go to mybsf.org, click “resource library,” you can search “htl” and they will all be available!
Is Revelation taught from the futuristic view?
Fred- thank you for asking! We will be posting some helpful articles as we get closer to the Revelation study
I just ordered my BSF study book on John through the BSF store in anticipation of attending a class in September. I was a discussion leader in BSF in the 70’s and 80’s but have nor been able to attend for many years. When did the format of receiving our lesson each week change and why?
Hello Jane – so glad to have you back in BSF! The format of receiving lessons changed in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. At that time, BSF decided to shut down the press which printed lessons for classes around the world each week. Since then, BSF has moved to a digital model for lessons. You can access free digital materials on the BSF app or at mybsf.org. Alternatively, for those that loved printed lessons, we offer study books available for purchase at the BSF Store. Thank you so much for your question!
Where is the Daily Dive/Deeper Dive? Did you discontinue it?
Hello R, yes, the daily dive has been discontinued. Thank you!
I came here also looking for the Daily Dive. Sad to read it has been discontinued.
Hi Michele! We are sad to hear that. But rest assured there are going to be lots of resources posted on the blog this year and we hope you will find them to be helpful as well. Thank you for your feedback!
I came to study the Bible at BSF in 1996 after facing a trial, a strong test to my Faith. I believe God Jesus is more than enough to meet impossible. God’s word the truth has equipped me in my daily walk with him. In my Faith journey, I believe Eternal Life is a person to person relationship with God through faith in His son Jesus Christ. I praise The Almighty Living God for His work – to Susie Rowan, Headquarters’ staff and all leadership around the world. Keep up good work – an update on new changes. with God’s love and ongoing prayers.
when I try to long into my account, I get a message on the screen that reads: “Records do not exist for the requested class”
what do I need to do?
Praise God for His awesome grace in BSF through out the world. BSF has taught me to be disciplined and to love the word of God. God’s word is a weapon, a tool to face the enemy’s tactics in every areas of our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit. The more I engage in the study of the word of God, the more I gain wisdom, knowledge and understanding of who God is! Amen! Hallelujah! Shalom! Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! God bless BSF to be a blessing to many to come to know saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen & Amen!
I am in a satellite class in California. I love BSF and this is my 9th year. I have a hearing problem so sound quality is very important. Does BSF International set some standards on what technology equipment should be used, for both audio and visual reproduction? I know that in the past, some men have dropped out because of the poor quality and that is a shame. Also, in the past, DG size used to be limited to 15. Does that still hold? This is a very important guideline. Finally, are you requiring for satellites that GLs be rotated among the class members so we mix it up a bit each year, get to meet new members, etc.?
Wonderful!!! How G R E A T is our God!
Please pray for BSF study be accessible to people in Nepal.
Now all 77 districts in Nepal have Church and Christian presence.
We hope one day BSF can be available to people in all 77 Nepal districts.
Internet is expansive in Nepal therefore is not widely accessible for Nepal churches in many districts.
Am looking forward to the online class. I had surrendered joining BSF this season due to movement challenges but now I feel well thought of! Bravo to the organizers
I am happy to be receiving this mails,it gives me an update on new changes before I get to my next class,I am most happy for the online class, because some people gets discouraged of jumping from one bus to the other to get to class,an online class will go along way for younger one’s to learn God’s word in the comforts of thier homes or work place.
Does your audio version of notes applied to Romans where I am currently on in Singapore. My eyesight is failing and have been praying for audio version. Can’t wait. Thank you Lord.
❤Amazing and wonderful???
The fellowship with other christian women is a wonderful way to see their prospective that they have for their blessings and the knownledge of the Lord WORD in their everyday life. It is to continue to increase and strenghten each other
in severing our fellow man in this world; so known one will be lost; but study is WORD for the true meaning for our life’s here on earth. MUICH LOVE!
This is awesome! Thank you for the techie update, I can now continue with my homework even in traffic. Of course when someone else is driving. The word doc opens like a PDF on my IPad. Will try on the laptop. Looking forward to the journey through to the promised land. Joshua is an exciting book. God bless you so much!
are the home discussion notes available to print from the computer? I believe it’s cAlled the daily dive now.
Managed to create account and sign in at last….answered prayer for me…..it’s like an open door to many beautiful rooms. Thank you BSF for going digital. Am loving the tour!!
I have just created my account and I am already excited to devour God’s word. I give glory to God for BSF as it continues to use God’s wisdom to stay relevant and beneficial.
I love BSF , The WORD teaches us to believe and obey and I learn more of HIS will each day. Thank you BSF.
I am so Blessed to be in The BSF fellowship. I am a class member here in kibada -Dar as salaam Tanzania
I started attending BSF I think in Nov. of 2012. It was the Genesis study and I did not have the presence of mind then to ask for the notes for the 8 weeks which had passed before I started. Is there not some way I can obtain those 8 weeks of notes so that I may have a complete set for Genesis?
It is encouraging to read all these comments, to see how the Lord has touched so many lives through BSF!
I am very thankful for the many Great changes in BSF this year, so many more can learn God’s Word, fellowship, and “go deeper” into their Christian walk.
I, personally, believe BSF is the ‘Best’ Bible Study I have ever attended or facilitated, for it has made me gain more of a “Revelation Knowledge” of ‘who’ God is and has been more ‘personal’ to me as a Believer in Him, as to my part in His Kingdom!
耶穌說:「若不是差我來的父吸引人,就沒有能到我這裡來。」
Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him;”
耶穌說:「我就是道路、真理、生命。若不藉著我,沒有人能到父那裡去。」
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
信道是從聽道來的,聽道是從基督的話來的。
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
以賽亞書 6:9 他說:「你去告訴這百姓說:『你們聽是要聽見,卻不明白;看是要看見,卻不曉得。』
Isaiah 6:9 He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
耶穌說:「父啊,天地的主,我感謝你!因為你將這些事向聰明通達人就藏起來,向嬰孩就顯出來。」
Jesus said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.”
神的國在人心裡
“the kingdom of God is within you.”
If you download the free version of Adobe, you can download the questions in Word, type your answer, save it in your file, then either print or save it as a PDF so you can pull it up on your smart phone or tablet. No printer or paper needed.
Thank you, Todd. Wonderfully written and explained. I especially love the picture-honoring the past, while moving forward in new ways to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus!
When I click on the link to mybsf.org, my computer tells this is not a private site and may be impersonating mybsf, org. Therefore I have not created an account. Is it necessary to have an account for communication or getting lessons?
Well i have been in BSF and i have gained alot and am eager also to continue with the lesson in Kampala Uganda st St Paul’s Cathedral and i have been a member of this mens class since it
Will i be able to hear a lecture from class also?
You mention free access to materials such as Daily which were previously available at BSFintetnational site. Where do non BSFers access or do people have to register for a class at mybsf now to get material?
Praise be to the Father of our Lord and Saviour JesusChrist. It is so very exciting to see all the changes coming up, trusting the Lord for wisdom as He initiates all the changes for His glory. I was overjoyed to listen to the notes which have blessed me richly for the past 17years, and so to have the privilege of listening to it over and over even while am driving or just at work without having to be reading is great news. Waoh having alot of access to other resources too especially for the children is so exciting to me. Bsf has been a source of major impact in the spiritual growth of my family (praise God for that and all glory to Him) and glad it is expanding at a jet speed to reach out to millions in today’s world.Thank you all for the good job.
Appreciate the efforts made by BSF HQ! This year is really a year of transformation of BSF. We have advanced notes in PDF format, and many reference materials from mybsf.org. May His Word be spread through the world, and let there be light!
The online group discussions will be a great idea. I have witnessed a number of people whose hearts are yearning for the WORD but are too busy at their workplaces to be able to attend a physical BSF class. Such people will benefit a lot from an online class.
I thank God each time I read about all the exciting new things happening in BSF for the glory of our great King and Lord.
I thank God also for BSF leadership at this season and this time – You guys have been truely BOLD & COURAGEOUS.
You believed BSF could DO more and BE more for HIS glory and you acted in faith. I am proud to be part of this organization.
I am grateful to God who has made all these updates and changes possible. Also thankful to HQ for all the hard-work. May the Lord richly bless and strengthen you as you work for His glory!!! I am so excited and looking forward to the new year!!!
I applaud you 🙂 I have been in BSF over 20 years and many things have changed. However, it is wonderful to see how God’s hand (through your prayers for this work) causes it to be pretty much seamless change. It is wonderful how God is leading you (quickly, sometimes) to keep in touch with cultural changes and apply them so no generation is lost to the Word of God.
May God continue to guide and endorse your work for Him.
I’m excited about the way GOD is moving thru BSF impacting this world with his WORD. What a Joy and privilege to serve! The way in which technology is moving ,classes opening up all new avenues to get and reach the lost and our next generation is amazing. Hallelujah!! He’s Faithful
Have trouble logging into MyBSF. It takes my email andpassword, but just keeps loading and loading and nothing happens. Any ideas?,
How do you listen to the notes?
I can’t seem to get into mybsf. I tried an old password and creating a new password, but it didn’t work. I can’t seem to get the slack right either for my Portland dayclass CL, but I think we have someone working on that.
BSF is very transformative. Thanks a lot to the founders and all leaders for now we have more churches as channels for BSK in Kenya. Still much room for more to continue lighting the candle to a hungry population. Long live and bravo for Gods glory.
I’m very happy for these developments. I’m especially very happy for the introduction of online classes because I moved from the city where I was attending classes and have felt left out. Thank you BSF for being dynamic
After a lot of the comments here i am still not sure of one thing. If i am registered for a group study class than because of my work schedule can not attend can i still concurrently register for an online class, therefore be registered for a class and online at the same time? This question may have been answered already and im sorry to be repetitive but i did not read all the comments as there were over a hundred of them. I am a brand new student and this is my very first class. I am thrilled to print up the questions and notes from the website. Still not sure how to listen to the lecture online. I have gone through the Crossways class ( 3 years) and it is completed and now I so look forward to BSF. Thank you to all who make this study possible.
Amazing! See what the Lord has done and is continuing to do in our midst. BSF online connecting believers from all walks of life, from all over the world and making the word of God even more accessible to all. Thank you BSF, and Glory to God!
I first walked into a BSF class in 1975 with my little girl. I have been so blessed for all the years I have had such rich and indept teaching from God’s Word. I am so thankful to God for calling Mrs. Johnson to say “yes” to that very first group of women who asked her to teach them. I have had to be in other Bible studies a few of the years when we lived in cities with no nearby BSF class, but always came back, joyfully, when moving where there was a class. I have had the great honor to serve in leadership in three cities and I praise our glorious Savior for all He has taught me over these 43 years.
The grace extended and obvious wisdom considered for the next generation with all the changes that have been made is truly commendable. Thank you BSF Headquarters!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Glory to His Holy Name!
Bravo!! Love the updates!
Honestly brings tears to my eyes and I give glory to GOD for all He’s done in my life and others through the tool of BSF. Praying for the whole BSF community as we are sanctified by truth and then ‘face outward’ to reach our world. Quick story: I remember longing for the return of “Israel and the Minor Prophets.” I had figured out that it would be in the fall of 2011. Obviously that didn’t happen! But I have every expectation that the new PPL will be worth that long wait! 🙂
Glory to God for this vision in using technology to serve our Lord and His People
There will be no excuse for not having access to God’s Word
Be ever blessed headquarter staff for the excellent job
Thank you for yet another unique opportunity to engage with study of Bsf on “People of promised land”.
Thank you to all who do the hard work to bring BSF to so many and now to so many more! God bless you!
Thank you BSF for the remarkable changes. Way forward. The audio notes and lectures are exceptionally useful.
Do hope that BSF will consider ARCHIVING past series/studies such as Revelations, Romans
I am not a prophet but I was one of those young adults who asked my TL “When will BSF do a study on Revelation?” 21 years ago when the first BSF Young Adults class began in Singapore. How fulfilling, enriching and exciting to have studied Revelation with my then preschooler and baby 2 years ago! His Word always comes to pass and accomplishes His purposes without returning to Him void. It has come a full circle in a way – BSF is a season of preparation for a lifetime of ministry. Out in the field and then at home, discipling the next generation. Love the changes that have come as BSF continues to be attuned to His Spirit in alignment with His will and His Word through the servant leadership of those at HQ and all around the world.
Tried to log in to print the first set of notes and group discussion questions, but the system would not allow me to log in. I’ve been in BSF for the last 8-9 years and pre-enrolled last spring for this year’s study. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Hi John, you need to register at mybsf.org even if you registered some time ago on the other BSF website. Once you’ve completed your new registration, you can access the notes, questions and your class lecture after it’s been uploaded
I joined Bsf in 1998, after a lot of pressure from my friends who joined earlier! It’s the best self actualisaion study I have ever undertaken for my spiritual health. I thought I knew scripture & the word of God, but the word of God has been made new every day, in every study! Bsf has equiped me with the displine of opening the word of God daily, reflecting on it & praying for Gods help, in application! A great challenge! Great outreach work by all Bsf Headquarters teams;Regional,Area teams,Teaching leaders, Class admistratiors, & all volunteers! God bless you all!
Thank you Susie and IT for all the changes BSF has made to bring God’s Word to as many people as possible. I started BSF in Fall 1993, and have been a leader since Spring 1994. I love how BSF changes are always to glorify God and bring others to Him!
Thank you Todd for the update…??☺️ Will continue praying for BSF HQ and its projects, especially for all the staffs …may the Holy Spirit be with you… all along the way…??
Would like to have classes for both men and women together. At least for thise above 60 like me.
Thank you to all at BSF HQ and Leadership for working tirelessly to bring about all these changes while unwaveringly standing on the Word of God and the core values and vision of BSF. I will continue to join many around the world in praying for your team and the success of your endeavors to reach more people with the Gospel and the transforming truth that comes from studying His Word in community. May God bless you richly! I love accessing all the materials digitally and participating in Social Media with and for BSF. So much rich content that is available. Thank you!
Thanks be to GOD for HIS wisdom that has been giving to many, to spread the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST to all regions. Thank you BSF teams for all of your obedience and heart-work.
Acts 12:24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish
Acts 19:20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.
when are we allowed to have a children’s program in a satellite class I have been attending B S F since 2000. Abbot5sford B C and I was privileged to teach for 6 years And I was blessed because I had to really dig in the word. in order to know what I and we were teaching .Because kids between 7 & 11 can come up with some questions That a couple of times I had to tell them I will look it up and will let you know next week And believe it or not 1 time even 18 leaders did not have an answer. But when we lost our teaching leader . the school program was cancelled which is sad because our youth is the future of the church . I know most denominations have children programs .But I found the B S F school program excellent.. But besides all that I thank the Lord for having the satellite program
God sent bsf because I was soul searching to know Jesus without the bias of human beings dividing Jesus. You know what I mean.
Evangelizing has become my great mission and no longer ashamed to share the gospel to all without judging as it is up to Jesus to give mercy and grace to those who are willing to open in their minds and hearts.
May these tools help us to cast our nets wide and catch the hearts of many men, women and children for His kingdom! Looking forward to PPL1. (Plus I enjoy your writing style, Todd.)
Nice post. I was checking constantly this blog and I’m impressed!
Very helpful info specifically the last part 🙂 I care for such information much.
I was looking for this certain information for a very long
time. Thank you and good luck. http://keo365.com/the-thao
Thank you so much for making class materials more available! I loved my first year of BSF, but after I changed jobs and had my second child, keeping up with regular attendance and being able to stay long enough to participate in both discussion group and lecture was a struggle. Increased options are great!!!
Thank you for working hard in accomplishing God’s given initiatives. In our class (DW Jakarta, Indonesia), we are stretched to again focus ourselves to magnify God & mature people thru this. Excited to see many U40 & those outside our city join. Thank you so much! May God be your reward.
I am not electronically Know the system…..I do not have any of the above you mentioned. I do e-mails and that is all. I do not use my phone for anything then to text or emergency telephone call. So I do not want to be part of getting my lessons on line nor anything else that you have available….Sorry, this is ME at age of 83.
I started BSF in 1976 in my 7th year of marriage. By mid year my husband was telling all of his construction co-workers, “If you want your wife to change send her to Bible Study Fellowship”. We are celebrating 49 years in December, and God through BSF gave me the foundation, the friends, and the fellowship I needed to grow and become a passionate lover of Jesus.
I thank God for the direction He has led BSF so others can access these wonderful studies. I started in Isreal and the Minor Prophets, and it changed my life. I am praying for changed lives all around the world with this year’s study.
Can a nonBSF attending person (ie not registered on mybsf) get the Daily Dive on the BSF international website?
This site is awesome!! Thanks!
Thanks so much to all you wonderful people at HQ!! Please know that even as we old and/or long- time BSF members and leaders murmur, mumble and complain, we are trying very hard to adapt and are eternally grateful to you for the immense amount of work you have done to make BSF more accessible to more people. Personally, I’m so grateful I can now read the notes on my Kindle or listen to them on audio, as I am having trouble with my eyesight. In addition to that blessing, my daughter, a “BSF baby” who was in the pre-school program and is now turning 30 and has a baby of her own, is able to be in an online class beginning this Wednesday! To God be the glory, great things He has done! If I could hug every one of you, I would, but since we’re doing things virtually, here’s your hug (( )). I have been and will continue to be praying fervently for you as I know you are working very hard. God never said it would be easy, but He said He would be with us always! Praise the Lord!
So thankful to BSF!!
My babies joined when they were in the Preschool classes and went all the way through High School. Changed the way I studied my Bible. 25 years! I’ve enjoyed the growing along the way! The women in my different fellowship groups not only prayed for my family through years but they supported us in so many ways! BSF has always been like family to me. I’ve weaved in and out because some years it was harder to get through a class than others. So maybe I’d miss a couple of years here or there. But BSF has always been a staple in my life. From SoCal, where I began, to NorCal, where I’m currently living. I will always be apart of BSF! Such an incredible blessing!! Thank you so much!!
Praise God from All Blessings flow. This is awesome!! This is my ninth year (I cannot believe it!) I am so excited BSF is now offering electronic notes. I have a good friend who signed up for this study, but will be unable to attend due to health complications. She asked me just a few days ago if BSF would offer the notes on line. I told her I did not think that would ever happen. That is just how much I know! What a wonderful gift. Thank you so very much!
Hi, when will the notes be available to print? I’m in an online class and could only print my questions.
Praise God for allowing BSF HQ to make all these awesome changes . May all glory be given to Him.
BSF does not stand on its laurels but builds on making the Word of God available. Congratulations on improving class experience.
Beyond grateful for all God is doing through this ministry! Thank you BSF international.
I really like the audio notes because the notes were too small to read even with glasses…this is exciting for me and I’m sure for others…I welcome the changes…Praise God!!!
I was overjoyed after checking all summer to see if the new website was accessible, that I was finally able to have a look around. I immediately started spreading the word about the wonderful resources available. I believe there may be 3 generations of women in one family who will be registering for an online class. Different circumstances limited or made it impossible for them to attend, boy was I excited to call the grandmother so she could tell her family. I called ladies who have visual impairments sharing the news of notes and lesson question now being audio. Often I just wish I had time to read the notes more than once and now I will be able to listen as often as I desire, yippee! I was able to refer women who are no longer able to attend our local Stockton women’s day class to several satellite locations. The promise of online registration sounds fantastic! I keep my grandmother (100 yrs loved) up to date on all BSF happenings. She worked with and alongside Whetherall Johnson in those early years. Grandma marvels and rejoices at how far BSF has come. My granddaughter (7yrs) would love a day program for homeschooled children, so we pray. I watch and pray for a time when we will reach imprisoned men and women. Others are praying for God to open a whole rainbow of new avenues to magnify Him, mature His people and reach the lost. I pray, watch and wait with great anticipation and expectation to see what God has planned. To God be the glory!
BSF classes are in several prisons and state correctional facilities: Nairobi, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and several US States (Minnesota, California, Illinois, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, Alaska, Delaware, South Carolina). Please pray for more people help reaching the families and friends of the incarcerated communities. I hope to learn stories about friends/families benefit BSF’s resources on both sides of prison walls.
What a rich heritage! I am glad you are keeping your grandma up to date. I hope it thrills her to know that the generations that follow her value the Word of God.
With the on-line BSF groups up and running, is there any provision for a men’s class attendee to participate with an on-line group if away and another location is not convenient, or available?
I am so, so *pumped* by this rollout, clearly grounded in thoughtful reflection, prayer, and responsiveness to meet the needs of participants hungry to bring the Word to their hearts and minds in new ways. I am rejoicing and thrilled! Thank you for your efforts, and I will continue to pray for the BSF team as its patience is tested with tech troubleshooting and the integration of additional functions, such as online registration. God is certainly “bigger” than any/all tech devices, and He’s got this in hand!
What a blessing BSF has been for me. You Rock!
WOW! I’m so excited about all the changes you’ve brought about with BSF. I have been a member and a group leader off and on for many years starting in the early 80’s. I was always so sad that many of my friends and family members were unable to become involved in BSF or take advantage of the wonderful resources due to time or work commitments. But all of that has changed with your new innovations and sensitivity to people’s needs. You truly are reaching out to the world with God’s amazing Word and truth! Thank You
I am an old time BSFer who has had multiple positions in BSF. God has now launched me into the cyberspace world as an Online GL. As I sit in front of my computer and talk/scream/fume at Zoom (because I think is needs to work MY way) I remind myself to laugh and enjoy the ride. Thank you for your sense of humor!!! May God be Glorified in all ways all the time.
Thank you, Todd and everyone at Headquarters, for faithfully seeking and following God’s leading for BSF! I’m so excited by the changes, which surprises me a bit because I loved BSF as it was, and has been. It’s so exciting to have the audio notes; I can’t wait to use them in addition to reading my notes.
BTW, I LOVE the graphic used – Miss Johnson’s typed notes with today’s tech.
BSF’s collective, collaborative approach is refreshing! Helps with the right problems being identified and solved. I love how we are growing as resourceful disciples who
can influence future generations. Psalm 8:2
To J.J., My old pastor used to say- if you see a need, then fill it first. Show us how, so we can evaluate expanding it to a bigger vision. God put it on your heart, so as you are following Him, we can be following after Him.
It’s kinda sad….when a person puts out an idea for a net, someone says throw it yourself. Or says to the wounded, heal thyself. Or to the helpless, help yourself without providing the means.
People generally ask for help because they can’t do it themselves.
Linda, I know some church’s have deaf interpreters. However, if the deaf population is small, they will not want to pay for interpretation services. I know that for medical services an interpreter needs to be present when a doctor needs to explain a test, procedure etc. I believe it is a law.
I only have an IPad and can not open a PDF file. What should I do?
Marie, I am able to open pdf files on my iPad. Try choosing to open it in iBooks if it doesn’t open right away
Thanks for the new format. Looking forward to the new season
I am so excited for the new study and to meet my new group leader, my new group ladies and to see the ladies I have bonded with from the past. I have downloaded my first two lessons and ready to go! Thank you!
I do have a question for you: have you thought about how to reach the deaf community for spiritual enrichment and fellowship? I will admit it is personal for me. I have a deaf brother and sister-in-law. When they come visit (they live 3 hours away) I share with them what I have learned in BSF. It is so exciting to see their expressions and they want to learn and be enriched by God’s word. They are struggling where they live, and I hear it is common in other areas of the country. Just throwing this out to you, like you need one my thing on your already full plate! God bless you for all you do and how far He has taken you.
J.j. thanking God for your concerned heart.
I believe they can listen to the audio as the lessons and notes are being read out now. Your brother needs to register on MYBSF site and go to each lesson and listen in. Hope there’s someone to help set it up initially. Praying for you.
Phil, they are deaf so they will not be able to listen to the audio unless there is closed caption option. They can sign in and get the lessons, but it is overwhelming for them to read all the info provided. Most deaf appreciate an interpreter who can do ASL. Don’t know how that can be Incorporated into the BSF system, if at all.
There are many BSF classes that provide someone to sign during the lecture. Your family members need only inquire at their local BSF class and tell them of their need
https://bit.ly/BSFOnline It looks like BSFOnline offers American Sign as one of listed 11 spoken-language selection, did you Search for ‘american sign language’ group? Besides English, there are 10 other spoken languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Thai, Indonesian, and American Sign.
Women’s American Sign Language Group meets on Tuesday (4:00 pm PT, UTC-07 time zone)
Thank goodness you will continue to provide hand outs of our lessons and notes. I don’t touch the computer unless I am forced to do so out of necessity. I DO miss the challenge questions.
Yes new and wonderful for those with internet access — Since I have I will again offer my home and computer to those in my class who would like to see materials and hear lecture. It was a blessing years ago when Joan (we were both CL’s) was able to come home with me after class and we would download and listen to the lecture together.
This is INCREDIBLE! I love everything that BSF has added to online. I’m sure it is hard for those that have been in BSF since the beginning, but I think it is a smart decision. As a CL leader and a busy mom with teenagers, it is super helpful to have the notes online as well as all the added CL resources. I have been known to be too social at leadership meeting and forget to pick up my lesson,. Changes have been an adjustment, but so thankful BSF is doing what they feel called to by our great God!!! Thank you Headquarters….we appreciate all you do.
When you say “the Notes are on Audio,” does that mean that you are ALSO going to read the verses in “GOING DEEPER” (or whatever you call it now) as well?
As one of your blind BSF members, I have treasured my cds over the years and think EVERYONE will be blessed by this experience.
P.S. You’ll still be reading the questions for us, right?
I listened to the Audio for the Introduction lesson. It was well done. But it did not include the verses in Going Deeper or the questions, which are available separately, and not with the online Notes. But I did think it might be a good idea to read the Scriptures in the footnotes. I can see that for those like you who are blind, that could be very beneficial. Maybe they would consider your suggestions! It looks like the whole year’s worth on Notes and Audios are already online.
Are the notes only available to be downloaded as audio after the date of lecture? I am not seeing them anywhere in any form on my personal portal. (I promise I wasn’t going to get ahead— just prepare ahead with a downloaded file for when I need it in a week. 😉 )
Hi,Margaret
Go to the screen where you get your notes and questions and notice that there is a drop-down arrow right next to the lesson number. Simply click that down-arrow and you will see every lesson listed for the rest of the year. Click on any lesson in that list and it will give you the option of viewing the notes or questions. Once they’re open, download them onto your computer and save them.
Hi there I am so grateful I found your blog, I really found you by mistake, while I was searching on Aol for something else, Anyways I am here now and would just like to say thank you for a tremendous post and a all round entertaining blog
(I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to browse it all
at the moment but I have saved it and also included
your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read more, Please do keep up
the great work. http://www.mbet88vn.com
A hearty big Thank You to BSF for all of the new changes you talked about above – what a blessing this will be to many – the current, seasoned student and the new comer – Thank you our dear Lord and Savior and BSF – many blessings to all in the new study year – my best
So grateful that I can lead a BSF class for a small village in Belgium! God is good, let’s pray He will draw more men and women into those new groups!
So glad to see the progressive changes BSF is making to reach the “digital” generations. I started in BSF as a young adult and have continued for 15 years now. Although these changes are great for keeping our access to content relevant … PLEASE consider one of the biggest impediments that needs to be changed. Do away with the gender specific classes and combine the men and women’s classes to run as a young adult class does. Families want and NEED to study the Bible together as a family unit … and it puts too much of a strain on families having to juggle two separate classes. I have been privileged to be a part of four different BSF classes in four different states and the result is always the same… the husband almost never attends BSF. If we want God’s word to go forth and lives and families to be transformed by Gods Word …. simply open up the class structure and allow both men and women to attend classes together. Again-the model is in place for the young adult classes… just implement the same structure for all classes. Thank you.
Amen! My husband used to attend BSF but prefers attending bible studies with me so we have looked for other options.
Food for thought. On the other hand (I have been in BSF for about 30 years, as a DL, TL and Area Advisor) what the men like best about BSF is that it is a place they can go and study the Bible with just men. There is no other place for that, especially one that provides this much depth and quality. What I have found during the past 30 years, and equally so now, is that for those men who do not want to attend it is often because they don’t care for the description of BSF they hear from their wives, i.e. it doesn’t have a male feel to it. When they are invited by another man, with his description of a men’s class as a place for men, they become more interested and will often go with their friend. Having combined male/female classes like the YA classes may bring a few more men, but will likely result in losing or failing to retain more in the long run.

I have been a BSFer for many years and now a GL. BSF you really changed my life! How great to live to see these changes. I have encouraged many to join who could not be in a class. Thanks BSF team
Glory to God and thanks BSF HQ for the welcome changes. I have a traveling job so I especially appreciate the notes now being available online plus the lecture. Keep up the good work you are doing.
I am a children leader for Chinese school program. I like to make use of visual aids to help children to better understand the class content, however the pdf materials doesn’t allow me to copy and paste, could we have a pdf version that allow us to copy and paste or could we have Word version? Thanks.
I am so excited by these changes and feel it opens the door wider allowing access to this rich study of Gods word. Access to printing our notes may be hard for our older members but this too opens a door of ministry where a non computer member can partner with a computer savvy member to teach or provide the lesson for them saving on the cost BSF has. Thank you so much for all your work.
Thank you for the summary of what’s new. Excited to see how God will use It all for His glory. Thanking Him for our forward facing HQ staff. God bless you all.
I am so excited about the changes I am seeing this year, and just want to thank all of you at BSF Headquarters for all your work to make it happen. I can now download and print off the questions each week. And I can get the notes on my Kindle! I also like the new question format- it seems more conversational and highlights the main truths of the passage. I’m one of the old-timers (60 years old) who loves the new digital options.
Just did my 1st LM this morning, 90 min …. one of the best thing that could ever happen …. cant wait to unburst this energy that is being exerted in me on our 1st class night on Tue EM, the leaders are toooo excited to take off …. just so to see what the Lord has for us this semester!
I am so grateful for all the changes that have been put in place! BSF has changed my life. I’m sure the changes underway would also be a blessing to many more who yearn for God’s words. ❣ ❣ ❣
Weldon to all BSF team of staff for this great work.
Every BSF year is timely in my life, looking forward for what God has for me this year am excited!!
Praise the Lord for all this and congrats to all the BSF staff . I went in yesterday and was not able to print. Will try again tomorrow. I have been attending BSF for 12 years moving once. I am going through medical issues and will miss the first class and a few others this year. I am excited for all the changes as It will help me not to miss anything and to keep up. I almost dripped out this year but the Lord push me on not to. Now I know why. Paula Southard
This regular updating to meet with the times without tempering with the sturdy/Word of God is so encouraging no excuse, there is always a way to study the Word of God with BSF. Weldon to the Directors, Headquarters Staff and Admin/media staff. More of God’s strength. I am always blessed with my family.
BSF is the reason I am a Christ follower and I all of these changes will make it easier for me to encourage those around me to join!! Thank you!!!
I am so Blessed to be in The BSF fellowship. I am a class member here in Abbottsford, B.C. I have been studying for the past six years.
I am so Blessed to be in The BSF fellowship. I am a class member here in Abbottsford, B.C. I have been studying for the past six years.
This is starting my 10th year with BSF overseas. It’s difficult to get to the meetings sometimes with very bad traffic and even adverse weather conditions. I’m blessed to have a place that requires H.W. reading and questions to prepare for discussion as well as a brief interesting lecture. The on line access is great if I can’t make it to class. This allows me to listen to the lecture and read over the notes. Thank you BSF for your blessed help.
I love the new changes! I still look forward to getting the paper copies but as I use my tablet in class and to take lecture notes I’m thrilled to be able to download and listen it as well! I really appreciate being able to download the notes as well as the questions. Thanks for all you do to get the word out!!!
I am one of these people who cannot physical attend BSF, after doing so for about 15 years. When my TL told me a couple of days ago that I could get notes, questions, and lecture online, I could hardly believe it. This was a definite answer to prayer, but I did not expect this answer. Praise be to God for HQs and all the workers there. Most of all, more people will come to the Lord by using these materials that couldn’t come to class, as in my case. Thank You Lord Jesus.
I’m loving listening to the notes in Spanish- one way to brush up!
LOVE the modifications! It’s going to be another great year at BSF (celebrating my 10th consistent year!) Thankful to be learning so much every time – thank you BSF Leaders for ALL that you do to make GOD’s Word come alive!
I’m not a prophet. However, it seems to me with the changes, or should I say the enhancements BSF is wisely employing, that God’s Word will be reaching more eyes, ears and hearts around the globe. Perhaps, even shortening the time when Christ will return. Thanks be to God for His continued guidance . To Him is all glory.
I love all the new changes.
Could you please make other lectures available? Sometimes hearing someone else’s lecture might give a better understanding. I would like access to some really strong lecturers.
Thank you!
We thank God for you and all the work you are putting in to make the word accessable to all.
Listening to my notes on my way to/from work is a fantastic idea!
May God continue to light your path.
Thank you dear ones at BSF for all the efforts to create an easy platform where one can access lessons from anywhere at anytime. It’s super useful and comfortable. Am loving the studies and enjoying being blessed.
I still prefer the old pdf for the questions. They are more flexible. The newly reintroduced pdf questions come with fixed font, fixed size and in bold.
All of your names came through “LOUD and CLEAR” because of the FONT SIXE and BLACK in color not Gray color like these fonts that I am typing here to make the post! I need darker fonts not these color right now for these font color causes too much eyes strain not standing out from the also gray background!!!
I love the audio notes! Awesome. Glory to God!
Excited to see that there are lessons in Spanish. I’m trying to learn Spanish, so I’m hoping to work through the lessons in both English and Spanish to help me learn.
Thank you BSF for all the new changes that will capture some younger generation who are tech savvy.
My prayers are that the Lord continue to guide and provide all needed resources to BSF leaders for His Glory.
Audio notes is the best news ever!!!! I love being able to listen to audio while I clean and care for my littles.
I am 75 yrs old GL attending BSF for the past 15 yrs. I welcome all the changes that are made. The journey to the Promised Land is wonderful and there’s lots to learn from Joshua as a leader. God bless Bsf
SO excited about audio notes! I often struggle to get to the notes even though I want to. Being able to listen while I’m driving to work is going to be awesome! Thank you!!!
Same here! So thankful
Hi, I would like to know if you have or will have Spanish classes in Springdale Arkansas, thank you!
There are 6 Spanish virtual discussion groups online (1 men/5 women). https://bit.ly/BSFOnline
Simply awesome, awesome. To God Be The Glory!
Am learning BSF in my community and I love it.
NB
I manage a junior school. Ages 3-13 years. How can I incorporate your program to benefit the children?
From the Hispanic community, gracias por permitirnos estudiar en nuestro idioma!. Is much easier for me to have the lessons in spanish, because I memorized many verses for many years and now I don’t use extra time translating.
My husband and I are truly ecstatic about all of the new changes! Our lives have been changed through BSF and the discipline to be in God’s Word and prayer daily. We are so excited about all of the new people who will be able to be reached through these new platforms. Praise God for all of the work He is doing through this ministry! We are continuing to pray for all of you at headquarters!
These studies have truly changed my life and how I respond to others and their
life journey.
I love this blog site. Thank you, BSF.
Thanks for making electronic versions of the notes and questions available. Consider using Google Docs since it is widely available and free. Keep up the good work.

+1
Yes. Google docs would be nice since Microsoft now charges fees for their products. Thanks for all you are doing!
Wow! I’m blown away by all the awesome changes! Thank you!
When you say “access to lesson material and lectures ” does this mean members will be able to hear or view their class’ lecture on the MyBSF website? Several other comments above seem to also be hoping for this as a new capability?
God is certainly using technology to encourage and bless the study of His Word.
David Durham
Yes! All members with a Mybsf.org account will have lecture access every week. Plus, the lectures don’t disappear after a week – they accumulate all year long! ??
Amen and Hallelujah ?
Yeah! Praise God from whom all Blessings flow! Being able to listen to the lecture online is great news! The speakers usually talk so fast, thst you can’t get it all in the first hearing of it. ( or you only get part of it and not the rest!) Can’t wait to try it.
Wonderful! Those of us with long commutes will cherish the ability to listen to the lessons and lectures. I am so rich!
Awesomeness!
I hope this won’t mean some people will just stay home – they can get the questions, notes and hear a lecture… maybe sharing with others won’t be so important. I pray this doesn’t happen.
@photojaq@aol.com:
That’s a good thing to pray for as we trust that God will draw whom He chooses to be there for each class.
This is also my concern, many people won’t see the need to attend class, the word “fellowship” seems to be fading away.
We pray for many African classes and areas that cannot access this technology.
Yes, as a years long BSF member- originally started in 1977…some years were in leadership…I am hoping this, too.
Praising God for this option! Though I prefer to physically attend my BSF group and hear the lecture while there I do miss things on occasion while taking notes. Seems I’m writing one thing that stands out to me when I hear something that really draws me in, then I realize I only got part of it. Also, I just found out I need surgery and will miss 6-7 weeks of BSF because of it. Want to thank y’all very much for making this available, I have faith that people will use this as a tool to help them and not as an excuse not to attend class.
I have yet to find the lecture. It’s just not there. I have access to the questions being read aloud but I really don’t need that at this time. Where oh where are you, lecture?
BSF class members can listen to their BSF class TL’s lecture recordings.
are you registered in a BSF class?

The changes are Fantastic!! THANK YOU!!!
yes, Yes, YES!!!!! To all the plans above and to all that the Lord will yet do and provide as we hear and follow His lead!!!
Praying for you all as you lead the way in this fast paced changing world.
LOVE the new notes online! Have already printed out the first three lessons since I will have to miss 2 of the first three weeks. Cant wait to hear the lecture online. I have trouble writing fast enough to keep up with our fantastic TL.
I also have trouble taking notes. I always have. While trying to take notes, I don’t hear what else the TL has said plus I forget what I was going to write when I try to focus on what else she is saying!
Try pausing the lecture and write what you heard and then start it up again. I have done this with online bible studies I took over the summer. I seem to write a lot of notes in order to ‘get’ what the lecture is.
Thank you for your faith in action. I really like the online notes and responding to study questions in Word format. It works beautifully!
This is absolutely fantastic! Kudos BSF HQ! Absolute answer to prayers for a number of us.
Thank you for making my bsf as a millenial not a foreign experience.
I am grateful for the changes to the new format. I have downloaded my questions since I started and used Word. This saves me time having them in Word already. I also like the ones online. I always work ahead a few lessons as you never know what life will bring and at times this has saved me when I couldn’t do that weeks lesson. Thanks for you hard work.
I love the new changes! mybsf.org is great! I look forward to listening to the notes during my drive and while waiting in line to pick up the kids from school. Thank you for all you do!
Exciting times ahead…all for the glory of God! May we/I be found faithful where He has placed me. Most grateful to all who serve tirelessly in the BSF ministry. God bless you all.
I used to wish my late disabled husband could do the lessons and hear the lectures with me. Due to the changes, it sounds like a whole new group of housebound people will be able to participate. Thanks to you and to God!
I used to wish I could include my late disabled husband in BSF lessons and lectures. It sounds like the changes will enable a whole new group of housebound people to participate. Thanks to you and to God!
Electronic notes! Hallelujah!
So grateful to God to be on this journey as a TL for almost 13 years. So excited to see all the effort and hard work headquarters has put in to reach the next generation…my children and grandchildren for the Lord. Bridging the gap with Joy.
How wonderful to hear about the online classes that open Bible study to so many more!! <3 Thank you, LORD!!
would this be open to people unable to come because of a handicap ? Who could "attend" such an online class?
Anyone who would sign up for a class to attend in person, can attend online. Absolutely wonderful for the home bound!
If I am unable to attend my weekly in person discussion group, can I attend a virtual discussion group? How can I do so?
Anyone who is registered in a “physical-in person” class will only have access to their class time and mybsf.org for anything they would like to download, print or listen to. Online discussion groups are for people who register for online only (who cannot attend a physical class.) The two are mutually exclusive opportunities and have no cross over. I hope that makes sense.
Yes, it makes sense… However, I currently have a different situation that requires online access even with being registered to physically attend. I am currently out of town on business and plan to be away until early November. I would greatly appreciate having online access while away, as the two locations where I will be conducting business do not have BSF. The locations are: Youngstown, OH and Edenton, NC.
First, I want to say thank you to BSF for the blessing in my life over the past 20 years when I first became a Christian at age 50. I have attended all the Studies, some more than once. I am on able to attend a day class that is in the area due to a conflict in my schedule and because of a health issue Will not be able to drive to the evening class which is almost an hour away. I have set up my BSF account online and was able to print out this weeks lesson. How do I sign up to be part of an online class. And how do I access the lecture and the notes on my account online ?
Kathleen, this is the link to choose an online group. I know there are many groups with some openings still available, though more group leaders are needed at this point. If
you have difficulties, contact the Help Desk link. Wishing you well!
https://www.bsfinternational.org/page/vsdg
How wonderful it is to study God’s word. Thank you BSF for this great opportunity, we look forward to a blessed year
BSFOnline ( https://bit.ly/BSFOnline ) online satellite discussion groups (via Internet) offers many spoken languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, German, Indonesian, etc.) besides English. Available spaces (as this morning 1,273 women/327 men) are gone very rapidly every day. May God’s battles in promised land win more souls in more people, more nations, more cultures, and more languages spoken internationally.
I am so grateful for the BSF tool, having used it for many years. And I am awed by the progress in reach to the world, especially younger generations. Thank Gid for you pros in the tech department and all at HQ. Thank you. All glory to God.
Thank you BSF for all you do to reach more people with God’s word! BSF changed my life 5 years ago when I started. It makes me so happy to see all the efforts being made to make the tools and methods of BSF more accessible!
I’m an old timer, I can print from WORD but having trouble getting my printer to do it from pdf so waiting for some teenager or when I get to leaders meeting
@Arthur There’s usually a printer icon on the top right corner when you open the PDF. If not, you should be able to press Ctrl and P at the same time and get the Print menu.
When you get the Print screen menu on a pdf, click the Advanced Tab and make sure there is a check in the “print as image” box, then continue.
Arthur, on my BSF page, it gives me an option of PDF or Word. If you don’t see that option, perhaps use the Help Desk chat feature to figure out how to find it? I prefer Word as well.
Hi, Arthur
All you have to do is look in the top right hand corner of the page where you’re looking at your Notes or Questions. There’s a black border at the top and there are three white icons: 1 – an arrow that is formed into a circle; 2 – an arrow pointing downward (this is how you can download what you’re looking at and save it on your computer); and 3 – an icon that looks like a printer (if you use your imagination.) Simply click on the printer icon, and it will take you to your print program, et voila!, you’re on your way to printing. Hope this helps.
I
Also, make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded on your computer. It’s a free download.
Arthur,
Download Adobe Reader–a free program, and that will solve handling
.pdf files. You may want to check out background on Adobe first–some
don’t like them as a company. But the program has worked really well
for me for years.//John
A teenager (or younger!) is always the best and easiest solution! 🙂
Download to a folder and print that copy.
Look I am still on aol so I am over the hill too.
